Essential Information
Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–December) offer the clearest skies and most vibrant landscapes for this route. Winter brings snow to the Laurebina Pass, and monsoon (June–August) brings rain and leeches to the lower forested sections.
Rated moderate. Around 5–7 hours of walking per day, with the Laurebina Pass crossing at 4,610m as the most demanding section. Suitable for both beginners and experienced trekkers with reasonable fitness.
Teahouse/guesthouse accommodation on a shared, twin-sharing basis throughout the trek. Teahouses are more limited between Gosaikunda and Ghopte, with basic but warm lodging and meals available in every village.
Full board meals included during the trek — dal bhat, noodles, soups, and momos are common, along with local yak cheese around Kyanjin Gompa. Vegetarian options are widely available at teahouses.
- TIMS Card: Trekkers' Information Management System card, mandatory for this region
- Langtang National Park Entry Permit: Required to enter the park, checked at the Dhunche checkpoint
- Personal kit: Personal medicines and toiletries
- Down jacket: Insulated jacket plus thermal base layers and warm gloves
- Sleeping bag: Often provided by the trekking agency
- Trekking poles: Recommended for the Laurebina Pass crossing and long descents
- Trekking boots: Sturdy, broken-in boots with warm socks
- Rain/wind jacket: Windproof/waterproof outer layer and trekking pants
- Sun protection: Sunglasses, sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle
The trek's highest points are the optional Chorkari Ri viewpoint (5,050m) above Kyanjin Gompa and the Laurebina Pass (4,610m). Acclimatization matters above 3,000m — drink 3–4 liters of water daily, walk at a steady pace, and watch for headache, nausea, and dizziness as early symptoms of altitude sickness.
